The Treaty 8 Tribal Association (T8TA) supports and provides advisory services to BC’s Treaty 8 First Nations. The purpose is to achieve sustainable shared economic prosperity and create strong proud communities. We strive to do all of this; while preserving our cultural heritage and protecting the environment and our historic Treaty 8 Rights and interests.
The Treaty 8 Tribal Association was incorporated in 1982 under the BC Societies Act. T8TA acts as a coordinator, a facilitator, and technical support on various issues as mandated from time to time by the Council of Treaty 8 Chiefs.
Treaty 8 Tribal Association is a service-delivery organization that is primarily funded by the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC: Tribal Council Funding) to provide advisory services and claims research. The Treaty 8 Tribal Association works collectively with Six First Nations in Northeastern BC.
